Safety, Community and the Environment
The Virginia Energy Assistance Program (EAP), through the Virginia Department of Social Services, assists low-income households in meeting their immediate home energy needs. The EAP consists of four components: Fuel Assistance, Crisis Assistance, Cooling Assistance and Weatherization Assistance.

Giving back to the communities we serve has always been one of NOVEC’s priorities. Our long tradition of community service has earned us a reputation in Northern Virginia as a model corporate citizen. Every year, thousands of customers and their family members benefit from ongoing programs NOVEC manages. NOVEC strives to provide value to our customers and the community we serve.
Each month, we "round up" participating customers' monthly bills to the next dollar amount. For example, if the bill is $69.54, it is rounded up to $70 and the extra 46 cents goes into the ORU fund. That money is then distributed from the ORU fund to charitable organizations that help low-income families. NOVEC pays all administrative costs of the program.
